Attention all you hard-working, no-nonsense men out there, gather round and listen up. I’ve got a story that will not only make your blood boil, but will also make you nod your head in approval. Because let’s face it, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to get some peace and quiet, especially when you’re trying to get work done from your own home.
So here’s the deal: A developer, just like you and me, was trying to make a living from the comfort of his own home. Sounds great, right? No boss breathing down your neck, no annoying co-workers stealing your snacks. Just you, your computer, and the sound of silence. Or so he thought.
You see, this developer had a neighbor who owned a chihuahua that seemed to have found its true calling in life – barking. And I don’t mean just your average, occasional bark. No, no, this little guy had a bark that could rival a full-grown Rottweiler. And he made sure to use it at every hour of the day. Now, I don’t know about you, but trying to focus on work with that kind of noise pollution is damn near impossible.
For weeks, this hard-working developer tried to ignore the incessant barking, but to no avail. He even tried talking to his neighbor, but the guy seemed to think that his precious pooch had the God-given right to bark as much as he pleased. That’s when the developer decided that enough was enough. He had had it with this relentless disturbance, and he was going to do something about it.
So he did what any self-respecting man would do in this situation – he grabbed his gun and put an end to the madness. That’s right, folks, he took matters into his own hands and shot that barking dog. Some may call it extreme, but I call it taking back your power.
Of course, the neighbor was understandably upset. He claimed it was unjustified and was now pressing charges against the developer. But here’s the thing, folks. This developer was just trying to do his job, trying to make a living in a world full of distractions and noise. And instead of understanding his frustration, the neighbor is choosing to play the victim.
Now, I know some of you might be thinking, “But Don, isn’t that a bit extreme? Couldn’t he have just found a different solution, like noise-cancelling headphones?” And my response to that is, sure, he could have. But let’s be real here, sometimes we just don’t have the luxury of taking the easy way out. Sometimes we need to take a stand and show the world that our work is important and should be respected.
So to that developer, I say bravo. You did what needed to be done to create a productive work environment. And to all my fellow hard-working men out there, let this be a lesson to you – never underestimate the power of a man’s necessity to get things done. And if that means taking down a barking dog, then so be it.
