Gentlemen,
A real man does not accept a body too weak to knock out a basic push-up.
When strength is gone and there is no road back, he does not fade into tubes, pity, and a slow surrender to his own collapse. He chooses a warrior’s exit. A 6’2″ amazon locks her legs around his waist and finishes the story with force instead of frailty. That is the Death by Snu Snu pledge. It is not a death wish. It is a line in the sand. You train so you never have to cash it. And if late-onset myopathy or a motor neuron disease still comes for you anyway, you do not spend your last years terrified of becoming a spectator in your own husk. The amazonian goddess handles the finale. The pledge removes the panic. The work remains yours.
The same logic now applies to your mind.
We are living through agent-driven atrophy of coding skills. Models write the function. Search engines fill the blank. Autocomplete finishes the thought you never formed. Men who once thought in loops, types, memory, and edge cases now narrate vibes into a chat box and call it engineering.
That is not progress. That is a lion asking the sheep what hunting feels like.
Regardless of whether your background is PHP, JavaScript, C, or Python, a real man must never accept being too incompetent to write a simple function without AI or a search engine. Offline. From the skull. With the same hands that used to own the problem.
Regardless of whether your background is PHP, JavaScript, C, or Python, a real man must never accept being too incompetent to write a simple function without AI or a search engine.
The pledge is this:
The day AI reliance and a wrecked attention span have made you too stupid to write simple code without a machine holding your wrist, you accept death from headscissors. Not as punishment. As a graceful exit if the shit hits the fan. You do not get to rot as a professional who can no longer do the one thing that made him a professional.
Nobody who took the push-up version of this pledge sits up at night bargaining with degeneration. The standard is clear. The exit is clean. The training gets done because the alternative is undignified.
Use the same standard on your brain.
There is nothing wrong with using AI to improve your coding. Use it to pressure-test an idea. Use it to hunt vulnerabilities. Use it to see a cleaner pattern after you have already written the ugly first version yourself. That is a weapon in a competent man’s hand.
What destroys you is using the agent as an excuse to stop being the man who can think. The moment you cannot declare a function, handle a loop, parse a string, or reason about state without a prompt, you are not “leveraging tools.” You are outsourcing the organ that made you valuable.
Logical thinking is not a nice-to-have. It is the professional you. Let it atrophy and you are a mouth attached to a model. Soft. Anxious. Replaceable. A sheep with a GitHub account.
So make the pledge.
Write code cold.
Solve small problems on paper.
Build the function before you ask the machine to bless it.
Keep a session where the only autocomplete is your own memory.
Track it like you track the iron. Spreadsheet the work. No excuses.
You do not fear the amazon because you train so she never has to collect. You do not fear headscissors for the mind because you refuse to become too dull to write a function in silence.
The age of agents will make weak men weaker and strong men sharper. Choose which one you are.
Stay competent enough to earn your own thoughts.
Or accept the scissors.
There is no third option that still deserves to be called a man who builds.
Now close the chat.
Open a blank file.
Write the function.
